City Bank Partners with EVERFI for Financial Literacy Education

Jul 29, 2024

City Bank has partnered with EVERFI from Blackbaud to offer financial literacy education to high school students by providing them with access to the EVERFI Financial Literacy learning platform. The web-based program brings complex financial concepts to life for today’s digital generation. Students gain knowledge in personal finance, allowing them to become more informed, responsible citizens.

The curriculum offers programming to teach students various relevant financial topics, including budgeting, managing credit, insurance, student loans, employment and taxes, and other concepts that map to national financial literacy standards. During the 2023-24 academic year, the program served 502 students with 1,257 hours of learning in six high schools in Houston, El Paso, Lubbock, and Ruidoso, New Mexico.

“Partnering with Everfi allows us to provide students with the financial skills necessary to make informed decisions throughout their lives. We provide the talented educators in our communities with the tools and resources needed to promote the importance of financial education to young adults,” said Sonny Garza, Branch President and Commercial Lender.

After a successful first year, City Bank is looking to add more high schools to the program. City Bank also partners with schools and non-profit organizations to provide one-day financial literacy programs throughout the year.
